BASES – Business Association of Stanford Entrepreneurial Students

The Social-E Challenge program awards $50,000 to teams with exceptional ideas that generate positive social impact. Competition categories include health, education, economic development, and sustainability. Social-E especially encourages teams with products or ideas containing large-scale potential. Previous winners have included Kiva and Samasource. In order to provide inspiration and to facilitate student participation, we are offering the IDEO/Acumen Human Centered Design course and a hackathon, Hack for Good.

Compass Fellows

Compass Fellows

Compass Fellows empowers student innovators to develop meaningful solutions to social issues through a year-long peer mentorship program. The Fellowship acts as an on-campus facilitator and liaison that educates and links student entrepreneurs to relevant on and off-campus resources.

Design for America (DFA)

Design for America (DFA) is a network of student-led studios using interdisciplinary design to create local and social impact.

ESW

Engineers for a Sustainable World

Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW) is a national, nonprofit service organization that aims to address the challenges of global poverty and sustainability by harnessing the energy and creativity of young engineers. ESW approaches engineering-based challenges of developing communities through partnerships that foster cultural, educational, and technical exchange. We strive to empower local and international communities to achieve their development goals and seek to enable Stanford students to make a lasting global impact through service learning.

GSB Social Innovation Club

The Social Innovation Club is committed to helping students alleviate poverty in both developing and developed economies. We strive to create opportunities for intellectual exchange and professional development in the field by connecting students to dynamic individuals and organizations passionate about generating positive social change.

SBC

GSB Sustainable Business Club

The Sustainable Business Club's goal is to connect members to information, business leaders, and exciting initiatives across the campus and outside Stanford involving the themes of sustainability, environmental protection, and climate change as they relate to business. The club aims to inform students of the many concerns and opportunities around environmental sustainability, and how those relate to social, macro-economic, and financial sustainability.

SENSA

We are launching SENSA in the beginning of this academic year with high targets on developing the understanding of social entrepreneurship and catalyzing the incubation of social ventures on Stanford's campus.

Stanford4Good

Stanford4Good

Stanford4Good hosts an annual conference with the goal of encouraging undergraduate students in technical fields to use their skills for social good. Previous speakers have included founders and representatives from Google.org, CollegeSpring, Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund, SIRUM, IDEO.org, Code the Change, TeachAIDS, and Gooru among others. This year, Stanford4Good also intends to organize informal showcases for students interested in social innovation to share their work and ideas.

Healthcare Club

Stanford Healthcare Club

The HCC's mission is to build networks that help Stanford students explore, pursue, and continue careers in businesses related to health care and life sciences, including biotechnology and genomics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare information technology (e-health), medical technology, venture capital, public/private equity investing, consulting, and investment banking.

During the academic year, the HCC organizes a number of different activities, including speaker events, educational sessions, company treks, recruiting activities, social gatherings, and collaboration opportunities with other Stanford students interested in healthcare.
